Sarova Shaba Lodge

The Sarova Shaba Lodge is situated in the Shaba National Reserve, part of a conglomeration of reserves in the Eastern Province. Descending from Mt. Kenya, at the entrance to the vast scrub desert that reaches beyond Lake Turkana, are situated Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and the third contiguous National Reserve, Shaba. Spring water flows throughout the lodge to form beautiful water cascades that sparkle into Uaso Nyiro River, which is famous for the crocodiles that live within it. Guests have the opportunity to see the crocodiles from the safety of a viewing platform overlooking the river within the lodge's grounds. In addition, the park is home to a host of wildlife, unique to the area, including the reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk, beisa oryx and the Somali ostrich. The area also hosts lion, cheetah, elephant, buffalo and leopard, and over 100 species of birds.

The lodge is a unique African experience for those with a true sense of adventure. A total of 80 luxury thatch-roofed bedrooms, all tastefully furnished with local material of Mazera Stone and timber off-cut walls, face the river, each with sumptuous en-suite bathrooms. Lodge facilities include an open-air restaurant overlooking the river, uniquely designed swimming pool, two bars and curio shop.
