Mara Intrepids Explorers Club

The luxurious Mara Intrepids Explorers Club lies at the confluence of the Maasai Mara's four main wildlife-viewing areas. Herds of watering elephant, giraffe and other animals can often be seen from each tent's verandah. Each of the ten well-spaced tents offers either giant double beds or twin beds and is furnished with a classic blend of the ancient and modern. The décor features fine hand-carved mahogany furniture, rich African artifacts and luxurious en suite bathrooms. The tents have been specially-designed to open up to the sky and also features a private open-air Victorian bathtub from which one can enjoy a unique new perspective of the African wild. An intimate canvas-covered dining area looks out over the Talek River and the meals offer cuisine accented by fresh vegetables and herbs grown in the camp's garden. The camp bar provides beautiful river views and a well-stocked library while the spacious lounge offers large enveloping sofas perfect for reading, playing board games or swapping safari tales. The camp was constructed as an eco-friendly camp and its operations are designed to have a minimal impact on the fragile Talek ecosystem. All biodegradable waste is mulched for compost, while water heating is fueled by briquettes made from used coffee husks. Together with its sister camp, Mara Intrepids, the Explorer runs a Community Development Fund for building and equipping primary schools and medical clinics in the area. Guests are invited to visit these facilities, offering a fascinating insight into traditional Maasai life.
