Borana Lodge

In a valley meandering out of the Laikipia Plateau, Borana is a privately owned and run lodge lying in a remote paradise in the shadow of Mount Kenya’s jagged peaks. Adjacent to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, its unique geographical situation makes the 35,000-acre ranch a haven for a wide diversity of wildlife. In addition, the ranch is home to fifty indigenous tree families and over 300 species of birdlife, supplemented throughout the year by a multitude of migratory visitors.

With a design theme inspired by its rugged African setting, six stone and thatch cottages cluster around the main lodge. A peaceful infinity pool overlooks a waterhole regularly visited by wildlife, particularly elephant who frequently swim in the lake. The cottages have open fireplaces, en-suite bathrooms with showers and baths, dressing rooms and private verandahs. Furniture fashioned of cedar, leather and hand painted fabrics enhance the rustic yet sophisticated interiors while delicious home cooking ranges from the traditional to the exotic.
