Discover Costa Rica on an exciting adventure that will make a difference in the lives of the people and wildlife in this Central American country. In the company of children from the SOS Children’s Village in San Jose, channel their wide-eyed excitement at seeing the rainforest for the first time. Hang onto each other during a thrilling white-water rafting ride down a river. Community service projects will reward you with new friendships and lasting improvements towards creating a positive future for the children and the environment. Lush rainforests, exotic wildlife, picturesque beaches, volcanoes and incredible people make for a truly unforgettable experience.

Days 1/2 - Miami/San Jose
Your flight arrives in San Jose, the bustling capital of Costa Rica. You are escorted to your hotel, a tranquil haven set amidst coffee plantations, citrus orchards and lush gardens. The next day, visit the SOS Children’s Village in nearby Tres Rios, a lifeline for children without anywhere else to go.  Get to know the children and staff while participating in a service project designed to improve their facilities, which include a kindergarten, youth center, medical and dental clinic, vocational training center, residence for retired foster (SOS) mothers and a workshop for residents to learn viable skills. HOTEL BOUGAINVILLEA. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - Poas Volcano/Sarapiqui
Children and their foster mothers from the SOS Children’s Village are your traveling companions today. Always in a constant state of mild activity, you will explore Poas Volcano. The stunted forest surrounding it shelters a wealth of wildlife, including 79 bird species and mammals, such as the Poas green-yellow squirrel. Continue on to your lodge situated on a private tract of tropical rainforest adjacent to Braulio Carrillo National Park.  This is a rare opportunity for your guests to experience the wonders of the forest, and the perfect place to re-discover your inner child while enjoying the unique biodiversity of the area.  Together, enhance the community through a service project.  SELVA VERDE RAINFOREST LODGE. (B,L,D)

Days 4/5 - Sarapiqui Conservation Learning Center Project
Both you and the children will be wide-eyed in amazement at the unique animals that call the rainforest home – hummingbirds, toucans, woodpeckers, monkeys and sloths may cross your path. Conquer the Sarapiqui River on a white-water rafting adventure, which will leave you breathless and just a little wet!  The time has come for one last hug as you bid good-bye to your cherished companions. The next day, work on a rewarding community service project to aid in the on-going advancement of Sarapiqui County, one of the poorest in the country. Past projects have included painting schools, refurbishing student desks, reforestation and trail maintenance. Enjoy smiles and songs during a guided tour of a school with ample opportunity for interaction with students and teachers. SELVA VERDE RAINFOREST LODGE. (B,L,D Daily)

Day 6 - Quepos/Manuel Antonio National Park
Drive to the small fishing town of Quepos located on the Pacific Coast and just minutes away from the world-renowned Manuel Antonio National Park.  Your boutique resort is situated on a bluff overlooking the ocean surrounded by 400 acres of tropical rainforest. A short walk brings you to a secluded bay of serene turquoise waters with exquisite white sand beaches. EL PARADOR. (B,L)

Days 7/8 - Manuel Antonio National Park/Central Pacific Coast
The Park’s two white sandy beaches, Espadilla Sur and Manuel Antonio (great for snorkeling) stand out as its main attractions.  You may see dolphins and even a pod of migratory whales.  Take your pick of any of the short trails that meander through the park, passing scenic overlooks and white sand beaches.  There are more than 100 mammal species and 180 bird species in the park, including the rare White Ibis.  Playful squirrel monkeys frolic in the trees above the trails with two-toed sloths, raccoons, white-nosed coatis, howler monkeys and white-faced capuchins off in the forest.  Spend the next day at leisure enjoying the pristine beaches and a multitude of optional activities (at additional costs), including horseback riding, kayaking, white-water rafting or a rainforest canopy tour. EL PARADOR HOTEL. (B Daily)

Days 9/10 - San Jose/Miami
Return to San Jose and relive your special memories during a farewell dinner at La Cocina de Lena. The next morning, bid adios to Costa Rica and your splendid adventure. HOTEL BOUGAINVILLEA. (B,D; B, Meals Aloft)
